Ice Castles (not the movie)

 Our President's Day adventure to up to Midway. A real winter wonderland!

 

 

 

  

I really couldn't capture the whole thing and how big it was.  You can see more here, but I don't think that even has the latest.  They are constantly adding to it, making it tallerand adding more bridges, etc.  It was really cool!  If you're in Utah, you should go!  My boys (and I) loved it!

Bittersweet Snow Day

7am - Start shoveling massive amounts of snow because I am supposed to take five gallons of hot chocolate to Corbin's class for the Polar Express party (and I actually have to go to my in laws to get the jug first).

7:10 am - I realize there is no way I am going to make it to my in laws because they always have more snow than us and their road never gets plowed, and I don't even know if I can make it out of my street.

7:20 am - 2 cars have gotten stuck in my cul de sac so far.  No one is getting out.  School buses have been cancelled (for junior high).

7:40 am - Still shoveling.  Colton has joined me in his soggy diaper pajama pants, but at least he has boots and a coat.  Mom in law calls and says school is cancelled. Woohoo!  I don't have to try to get out!  Boohoo - Corbin's last day before break is cancelled - no party, no hot chocolate, no gift given to teacher...

7:45 am - 3/4 of the way done with the driveway and ready for a break.

8 am - Eat breakfast.  Get dressed for real.  Feed kids.  Get them dressed.

9 am - Bundle up and head out for ROUND 1 of fun building forts and having snowball fights!

10 am - Still snowing

12:30 pm - Venturing into the backyard for ROUND 2 of fun building a fort under the tramp.

1:45 pm - Ready to come inside!  Look at those red cheeks!

2:15 - Round 3... Cody doesn't mind playing outside all by himself.  He even found a little snack.

Despite missing the party, it turned out to be a fun day of snow and hot chocolate.  And luckily by by 5pm, the roads were drive-able and since cabin fever had set in, we braved the weather and went out for pizza and a movie.  What a fun day!  It was a great start to our Christmas break!

The Last Hurrah

2009 couldn't have ended better. We spent New Year's Eve with great friends and had a great time.

We spent the day sledding and playing in the snow at Russ's parents with my friend Jen and her son Jimmy, who also happens to be Corbin's good friend. After trying to make our own sledding trail, we gave in and let Russ pull the boys around behind the four-wheeler. They loved it! Colton even had a good time. When he first fell in the snow and couldn't get up, he just layed there and started eating the snow. He didn't even cry when he fell off the sled and landed face first in the snow. What a trooper!

That night the whole family went to a "Rockin' New Year's Eve" at our friends' house. We played Rock Band, made cool hats and shakers and ate lots and lots of yummy food. This was the first time we have let our kids stay up until midnight and I wasn't quite sure how it would turn out. I was certain at some point there would be a major meltdown and we would have to go home - but all the kids did great! At midnight we toasted in the new year and ran outside screaming and yelling and shooting off our little poppers. It was great! Colton even learned how to say "Happy New Year!" It was such a fun night! Thank you, Kyle and Mary!

Spring? Break

The first day of spring break, this is what we woke up to . . .

The boys didn't seem to mind too much - guess they don't know how spring break is "supposed" to be. We did have fun playing in the snow and making snow ice cream one last time this year.

Well, dinner at least. The other day I sent Russ and the boys out to find us some free food. Luckily they had a little fun too.

Snow Day

Cody love, love, loves playing in the snow. Nearly everyday he tells me he needs to go outside and shovel (I hope that desire lasts until his shoveling is actually helpful). At any rate, it is really fun to watch him discover the snow and really experience/enjoy it for the first time this year.

Road Trip

Don't worry, all the wonderful pictures of Christmas are coming soon (only 500 to go through), but first the fun of getting to Denver . . .
