Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda

We would have if I would have remembered.  We could have if I had put it on the calender.  We should have, because now we are seriously paying for it.

The flu shot.

Instead...

Massive headaches.  Sharp shooting pains and the constant, dull, "I don't want to move" ache.
Chills.  Waves of chills and sweats.
Clenching stomach.  The "I just ate something bad" feeling.
Whole body aches.  Back, legs, hands, neck, you name it.
Random shooting pains. Everywhere.
Sinus pressure and running nose to accompany the headache.
And of course, total lack of energy.

Corbin: Friday - Monday (but it's kind of lingering)
Cody: Sunday night - Tuesday (seems fine)
Colton:  Saturday - today (not getting any better:( )
Mom: Today - ???

I guess I knew it had to come eventually.  Even with all the vitamins and hand sanitizer, it was inevitable with kids hugging, kissing, mauling and crying all over me all day.  Any amazing remedy suggestions?  Nothing seems to work that well...

Damage Control

That's all I ever do!   Does anyone else feel that way?  I go to bed, the house is totally clean.  By 10am the next morning there are scrambled eggs on the floor, little boy underwear in my living room, toothpaste on the counter AND the lightswitch, cream of wheat dumped in the pantry, clean clothes pulled out of the drawers, papers from yesterday's take home folder tossed in the entry, an entire basket of toys dumped out and of course, dishes and mess from breakfast.  And since I live with four males, I won't even mention what the toilet can look like after just one day.  And that's just the normal stuff.  Then there's this:

And this is fairly common:
And the other day I stumbled upon this:

One day I made the mistake of thinking I could sneak in a quick shower, by myself , while the kids were awake.  Yeah.  I should have known when they weren't banging on my bathroom door.  When I came down my kitchen looked like this:
(yeah, flooded by way of 2 yr old and kitchen sink sprayer.  At least an inch across the entire floor.  You would think I would have noticed the decrease in water pressure in my shower.  So, sorry, no pictures.  This one needed immediate attention - especially the tax documents that were drowning on the kitchen counter.)

And recently, though less detrimental but infinitely more frustrating, my almost 4-yr joined his little brother in SEVERAL instances of this:

I finally figured out that extended time outs and evil looks were not going to fix this habit that had formed, but finally, after hand washing and drying several buckets of toys myself, I figured it out:

(Yes, I'm a mean mom, after throwing away the blocks with now chipping paint, I made him hand dry every single last one.  Problem solved. At least for now.)

Needless to say "Cinderfella" has been very busy lately.

Everyday, really?

What on earth was I thinking when I said I would post something everyday for the month of December? I can barely do once a week sometimes and that's not even when I have a hundred other things on my plate and something going on every night! Really, my husband has only been home one night this month when he was not working or we had some party or something. That was back on the 9th. Luckily we decided to take the boys to the light festival that night or we probably would have missed it this year! And now, my husband is gone at work for three days while I try to finish Christmas cards, neighbor treats, shopping, wrapping everything, laundry and packing for Denver. He will get home Monday morning when we will host his parents for breakfast/Christmas presents, etc. and then we will pack the car and leave for Denver the next morning. It seems like everything I need to do is something that is much better done when my boys are sleeping, so needless to say I have had alot of late nights. Anyway, long story short I have given up on the "everyday" thing and you will just get what you get. (It was really more for myself anyway, since I never scrapbook anymore and I just want to keep track of everything before I forget!) Hope everyone else's holiday preparations are going smashingly . . .
