Earth Day 2010

Just so you all know, I am a normal, everyday person and I am definitely NOT an environmental freak.  But I do think some things are important - and easy - like recycling.  So for Earth Day this year, I really wanted to dress me and my kids in paper bags and show people how many bags they waste every year.  And do something productive like make people in our community aware of how easy our curbside recycling is.  It's only $6 a month and you don't have to sort it at all!  Anyway, but that didn't work out, so here's what we did do.

They were such good little trash picker-uppers.  And we got ALOT in just over a block of road next to our subdivision.

Then we came home, ate pizza, and watched Disney's Earth movie.  It was actually pretty good. The kids were enthralled and we learned alot.  Corbin wasn't quite so sure about all the animals that have to hunt other animals, but it was a good learning experience. And it definitely made us appreciate our Earth and all of God's creations.  What a magnificent place we have been entrusted with!

What did you do for Earth Day?

your plans sounded great! but it was also great what you ended up doing. you're good.

i don't think i did much for earth day. miles learned a lot at school and told me all about it. oh, jonas and i made a craft - recycled craft from stuff around our home. that's pretty much it.

i'll send you the link of the craft since i think your boys would like it, too:

I honestly can't wait to be done with school so that I can do more meaningful things with my kids. I happened to be at class and doing clinical prep instead of cleaning the trash on the roadside.

We did, however, take the kids to see Disney's Oceans yesterday since they had the day off. I like it a lot...Levi got a little bored...and Lexi knew the name of every weird creature they talked about before they even said what it was. Paul might have taken a nap. :)

Oh that's so good! I should try to be a good mom and do something fun and environmentally friendly with my children sometime. :)
