So we started with this:
We did a little of this:
And some of this:
And even this (although that had nothing to do with the task at hand):
Then we did this for awhile:
And finally this for an even longer while:
Somewhere in the midst of all "this", thanks to a distracted mother and a sharp peeler, we had a little of this:
But good thing that same mother knows how to make things all better:
And in the end, we had some really cool colored Easter Eggs that I totally neglected to get a picture of! So you will just have to trust me. (I know I still can't believe it, and somewhere in my mind I'm saying did I really not take a picture of the finished product? Ahh.) Oh well, so our favorites were the red and yellow onion skins and probably the beets. Next year we may try these (since we bought them this year, but ate them instead).

That is a really fun idea! We'll have to try it next year! Did you find direction or a tutorial somewhere about what makes what colors?
I just looked up "natural egg dyes" and there were lots of different things and ways to do it. Some said you could boil the egss with the vegetables, but I boiled the eggs separately and I think it worked better. So I just boiled the chopped vegetables in water for 30min, drained the stuff off, added a little vinegar and then soaked them for 30 min. I think if you use fruit, you don't boil it, just smash it up. Good luck!
